Safariland has a unique opportunity for a hands-on Cost Accountant to join our team and help take our business to the next level while giving you an incredible opportunity learn and grow in a manufacturing and production environment.

 

Reporting to our Group Cost Accounting Manager you will be using your accounting and analytical skills to work with leaders and associates at all levels of the Company to review and investigate labor and manufacturing variances, monthly inventory levels and presenting on key results of the finance department. A substantial portion of this position will involve participating in teams driving continuous process improvements within our operations.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor changes and updates bills of materials
  • Analyze and update labor and manufacturing overhead rates
  • Analyze fixed versus variable overhead rates
  • Analyze and update labor operation hours
  • Monitor monthly inventory levels and implement cycle count programs
  • Participate in physical inventory process
  • Analyze monthly manufacturing variances
  • Analyze monthly gross profit
  • Analyze inventory reserves
  • Partner with Manufacturing to prepare annual plant budgets
  • Conduct studies and submit recommendations for improving the organization’s cost accounting procedures.
  • Substantial portion of this position will involve participating in teams driving process improvements within the operations area as well as, the finance organization
  • Perform all other ad hoc duties as assigned by Group Manager, Cost Accounting

Qualifications

Desired Experience:

  • 1-5 years of general accounting, cost accounting or financial analysis experience
  • 1-5 years of experience in manufacturing experience using AX ERP system a plus
  • Experience with Visual Manufacturing system, Oracle financials or Microsoft Dynamics (ERP)
  • Experience with Hyperion Essbase or a similar reporting tool
  • Experience in Lean Manufacturing

Desired Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or other relevant field.

  • Master’s degree or MBA preferred

  • CPA / CMA a plus
