  • Overview

    The MILPRO Program Manager is responsible for the management of large (typically >$500K), customer-funded development programs and the coordination of large (typically >$500K) production contracts being executed by Operations. 

    In managing customer-funded programs, the Program Manager is responsible for developing and leading a cross-functional team in the development of new products that meet customer specifications.  The Program Manager is responsible for overall program success in terms of budget, schedule, and technical performance.

    In coordinating large production contracts, the Program Manager is responsible for working with Operations, Contracts, the Business Development Manager for that area (Military, Public Safety, or Industrial), customers, and the MILPRO Programs Director to ensure that Operations has the necessary customer perspective to support providing the best possible customer experience. This includes working with Operations to develop and modify production plans based on customer needs and internal capabilities to support those needs.


    Customer-funded Program Management

    • Leading the proposal effort for capturing new customer-funded contracts including the development of the technical, management, and cost information to be provided in accordance with solicitation requirements
    • Developing the program plans including scope, deliverables, required resources, budgets, and program schedule to meet the contractual requirements
    • Working with the MILPRO Programs Director and Contract Administrator to negotiate a contractual agreement that will lead to successful outcomes for Mustang Survival and the customer
    • Leading the cross-functional development team including the development of work plans to meet the contractual scope and deliverables and internal program execution process requirements
    • Customer communications and management including coordinating team participation in customer program reviews, ensuring meeting program requirements for deliverables, and working with contracts to manage contract changes and change proposals.

     Co-ordination of Production Programs

    • Understand the customer’s expectations in terms of deliverables and ensure Customer Service and Contracts have the appropriate information to accurately reflect the customer expectations in the MRP system
    • Monitor status of Operations preparation and production of deliverables in order to identify any potential risks as early as possible and facilitate the development of work-around plans so that customer expectations can be met
    • Work with Contracts and the Business Development manager to communicate program status to the customer
    • When problems and conflicts arise, provide the customer perspective in working with Operations to develop modified plans that are the best outcome for our customers and Mustang Survival

    Other Duties

    • Support the MILPRO product team development of annual goals and objectives
    • Support the MILPRO product team development of new product development priorities
    • Support the monthly forecasting process and the development of the updated revenue (sales) forecast
    • As part of the customer communication process, support the US Military Business Development Manager in the management of major Military Distribution customers (e.g. ADS, Amron)
    • No direct reports
    • Project management of 5-10 team members from other functional departments in order to execute program requirements within budget and schedule
    • Financial DOA anticipated at $10,000 for project-related decisions


    • Bachelor’s degree in technical or business field
    • Minimum of 8 years overall experience with five years of experience within a regulated industry is required. Military market experience is most preferable.
    • Minimum of five years of experience managing projects, with at least three years of that in a regulated industry; PMP certification desired
    • Exceptional leadership, time management, facilitation, and organization skills
    • Strong communication skills – including verbal, written, and presentation skills – with the ability to represent the company to customers in professional settings
    • Ability to develop strong relationship at levels within the organization and with customers
    • Ability to effectively prioritize and manage projects from start to finish
    • Budget management skills
    • Ability to both delegate and be hands-on when appropriate
    • Knowledge in performance garment development and manufacturing is considered a plus
