  • Overview

    This professional will manage new and existing products starting with the handoff from design thru production. This person is responsible for the loading of the specifications for the garment through development and during the product life cycle. The Product Engineer also manages the development of appropriate construction methods.


    • Execute design intent into bulk production while maintaining high quality standards.
    • Complete Product Build Package, including: Construction instructions, BOL, BOM, and any predefined standards.
    • Ensure products are developed in a manner consistent with established fit form and function standards, manufacturer capabilities and cost specifications.
    • Identify potential production, quality and costing issues and make recommendations to ensure brand integrity.
    • Analyze garments to determine compliance of spec, construction, and fit intent.
    • Make appropriate construction adjustments with factories as required to ensure integrity of design-approved prototypes while monitoring efficiency of the factory
    • Collaborate and develop close working relationships with design, r&d, to ensure the quality, delivery and business practices are achieved and upheld.
    • Foster open communication and a team environment with all business partners; receive constructive feedback professionally.
    • Track and manage workflow and workload for product and ensure product areas are maintained.
    • Evaluate production line and engineer additional efficiencies
    • Provides feedback across the organization regarding production, quality and efficiency.
    • Maintain and improve the system of capturing manufacturing data daily/weekly.
    • Maintain and improved the system of capturing labor cost trends daily/weekly/monthly and help setup benchmarks for management incentive system.
    • Perform other duties as required.


    • Bachelor's degree OR Relevant Experience in fashion - apparel design, manufacturing, product development or a related field.
    • Proficiency in PLM or PDM, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, Illustrator, Photoshop
    • 3-5+ years work experience in the fashion industry including technical design and/or patternmaking with construction experience and full knowledge of total production timeline and manufacturing processes. Other knowledge should include an understanding of grading, costing of garments, textiles, garment testing, draping and fitting.
    • Thorough understanding of the design & development process from inception through production.
    • Knowledge of garment construction standards and manufacturing methods.
    • Requires strong knowledge of sewing techniques, pattern construction and equipment industry for commercial mass production.
    • Attention to detail, initiative, organization and strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Ability to multi-task, proactively trouble shoot, problem solve, and the ability to effectively influence.
    • Manage information required to start production including style packets, samples and packaging samples. Follow up with any changes and/or updates on the assigned product lines.
