  • Overview

    Our International shippers are responsible for facilitating export shipments. Must be able to maintain a reliable work ethic and notify supervisor of unsafe equipment or work practices.

    • Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
    • Affixes shipping labels on packed cartons or stencils identifying shipping information on cartons,
    • Inserts items into containers, using spacers, fillers, and protective padding.
    • Binds containers using strapping machine.
    • Stamps, stencils, or glues identifying information and shipping instructions onto crates or containers.
    • Posts weights and shipping charges, and affixes postage.
    • Examines outgoing shipments to ensure shipments meet specifications.
    • May keep records on outgoing shipments and prepare items for shipment.
    • May operate tier-lift truck or use hand truck to move, convey, or hoist shipments from shipping and receiving platform to storage or work area.
    • General upkeep, maintenance and cleanliness of shop area and facility
    • Basic assistance in the area of material preparation and job layout
    • Assistance to shipper/receiver with loading and unloading trucks
    • Keep hand tools in organized and working order
    • General assistance to other employees when requested
    • General computer skills

    In addition to the standard Shipping role, the International Shipper will be responsible for:

    • Processing day-to-day international shipments
    • Ensuring timely receipt of export bills of lading/air way bills from freight forwarders
    • Ensuring that export shipment documents are in order prior to releasing shipment to carrier
    • Filing EEI through AES/ACE for international shipments
    • Updating EEI filings, as required
    • Obtaining freight quotes for international shipments
    • Providing shipment updates to customer service
    • Maintaining records for international shipments
    • Preparing customs paperwork
    • Performing denied party screening for each export shipment
    • Complying with dangerous goods regulations when shipping hazardous materials



    • Two (2) to three (3) years experience working in a warehouse/ international setting
    • Computer experience including Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Experience with Internet usage and e-mail
    • High School Diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • In-depth knowledge of EEI filing through AES/ACE system
    • Current ICAO/IATA dangerous goods certificate required
    • High level of motivation and efficiency
    • Must speak and write English fluently
    • Familiar with processing ITAR and BIS export licensed shipments is a plus
    • Strong background in international logistics
    • Understanding of proper export document requirements for international shipments
    • Ability to follow directions
    • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, correspondence and memos
    • Ability to work with other employees
    • Ability to read a tape measure
    • Thorough understanding of basic mathematics
    • Knowledge of safety equipment and proper workplace safety practices
    • Ability to recognize problems as they occur in a job procedure
