  • Overview

    Work with local plant management, and supply chain functions responsible for all aspects of quality and quality improvement from receipt of raw materials, through production, to customer use. Implement systems ensure processes are in control and products are within specification. Maintain and improve the Quality System. Establish, track, analyze, and report on key quality metrics. Use problem-solving skills, teamwork skills and the ISO system to drive continuous improvement.

    Responsibilities

    • Experience and ability to lead and implement a cultural change to a more quality driven business management system
    • Experience and ability to deal with difficult people and situations
    • Maintain and improve the Quality System
    • Integrate the ISO process into the quality system as a day to day quality control and improvement tool
    • Work with plant management to create a user friendly quality improvement culture
    • Be fully involved in new product introductions to ensure processes are in control and suitable quality specifications defined
    • Review current processes and equipment to ensure control and adjust accordingly
    • Address customer quality issues and use the data to drive improvement on the floor
    • Lead and facilitate cross-functional teams to solve quality problems
    • Establish, track, analyze, and report on key quality metrics
    • Address day-to-day quality issues
    • Liaison with third party auditors - Underwriter Labs + Defense Contract Management Agency
    • Periodically review the status and results of the Quality System with management
    • Work with QC director and other QA managers to drive company-wide standardization
    • Lead, mentor, and coach the QA/QC team
    • Ability to implement Kaizen, 5S and 8D initiatives
    • Authority to stop production or shipment if quality requirements are not being met
    • May supervise more than three (3) employees

    Qualifications

    • Eight (8) to ten (10) years experience in Quality Assurance
    • Three (3) to five (5) years experience in Management
    • Three (3) to five (5) years experience in Quality Engineering preferred
    • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is required, preferably in Engineering
    • ASQ certification is a plus
    • Leadership
    • Ability to mentor and coach
    • Strong cross functional interpersonal skills
    • Ability to prioritize, focus on, execute and achieve closure on action items
    • Efficient problem-solving skills and techniques, including use of cross functional teams
    • Excellent written and verbal skills
    • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
    • Proficient in MS Office applications
    • Proficient in Minitab
    • Excellent project management skills
    • Hands-on knowledge of ISO 9000
    • Six Sigma Black Belt preferred
