  • Overview

    Act as primary buyer for all materials and finished products for the operation of the organization. Work within an Integrated Product Team Structure to support the supply chain needs of the product category. Manage product purchase plans, purchasing, inventory replenishment and vendor-managed inventory programs. Participate in raw materials and finished goods negotiations. Ensure consistent inventory flow to minimize stock outs and meet or exceed inventory turns.


    Essential Job Functions:

    • Plan, release and track purchase orders with establish supply baseManage procurement of inventory items needed to meet production requirements through review of planned order report.
    • Solid analytical skills in forecasting and the ability to evaluate customer requests in comparison to vendor capabilities to generate accurate order lead-times.
    • Responsible for managing vendor selection to support manufacturing requirements.
    • Manage purchase order process including negotiation of due dates and pricing with vendors to meet production requirements.
    • Interface with manufacturing personnel, customer service, purchasing, and supervision on incoming order status and production planning.
    • Responsible for the management of inventory levels and the status of incoming material to meet customer delivery requests.
    • Prepare and condense work order packages for release to the shop floor.
    • Able to ensure accuracy and completeness of work by paying attention to details
    • Review and resolve daily internal procurement problems and shortages
    • Troubleshoot problems to successfully fulfilling customer demand
    • Develop tools and templates as required to manage work order flow,
    • Participate in vendor performance reviews and improvement programs
    • Resolve material and invoice discrepancies
    • Support plant performance reporting (ex. +QDIP, End of Day, late order, etc.)
    • Support new product launches and part setup inputs
    • Ensure weekly production schedules satisfactorily comply with the company’s production plan and customer delivery dates
    • Confers with suppliers concerning late, on-time and early deliveries
    • Communicates incoming product information to customer service


    Supervisory & Operational Authority:

    May lead the work of one other person or a team.


    Position Profile:

    Required Experience:




    Preferred Experience:

    Must have 7 to 10 years procurement experience in the textile or garment industry.

    Prefered Education:

    Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook

    Previous experience with Material Requirements Planning (MRP) Software a plus

    Able to manage difficult situations, respond well to change, meet commitments, focus on solving conflict, maintain confidentiality and listen to others

    Speak clearly and persuasively in positive or negative situation, respond well to questions, participate in meetings, write clearly and informatively, read and comprehend written information

    Demonstrate competency in planning, organization, professionalism and adaptability; prioritizing and planning work activities; use time efficiently, approach others in a tactful manner, adapt to changes in the work environment

    Physical Demands:


    Occasional travel maybe required

    Able to work with sub-contractors, so climb ladders, crawl, bending/lifting, confined spaces, etc.

    • APICS certification preferred
