Reporting to the Executive Vice President of Safariland, the Vice President & General Manager is responsible for the strategy, execution, and financial performance of the global Armor business unit.  This position will have full P&L responsibility for the business unit, but will work with many shared Safariland functions. 


The VP/GM will lead operations, engineering, quality, product management, and procurement.  This position will direct all major functional areas of the business unit’s operations and assist in developing, implementing and administering all applicable  policies and procedures to meet sales, financial, and operating objectives.  In addition, this role will review the Company's performance and take all necessary actions to ensure progress towards the business unit's objectives, as well as evaluate the effectiveness of the business unit’s personnel & programs and implements changes as required. 




  • Bachelor’s degree required with a focus in engineering, science or other technical fields with an MBA preferred
  • 10+ years of increasing responsibility with some combination of operations, marketing, engineering, sales, or other professional disciplines
  • Experience within a highly configured discrete manufacturing environment
  • Direct P&L responsibility for a business in the $70-120M annual revenue range across multiple sites
  • Proven ability to bring new products to market using a disciplined stage gate process
  • Proven ability to interact with customers and learn their pain points and translate those pain points back to various parts of the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to turnaround and maintain underperforming operations
  • Must possess a leadership style that is engaging to all levels of the organization and has a history of leading engaged teams that are highly accountable
  • Demonstrated ability to set and achieve long and short-term goals for the organization
  • Experience leading an organization where business operating tools (lean, goal deployment, business reviews, visual management, etc.) are utilized
  • Must be effective at presenting information to a wide variety of people including customers, suppliers, executive management, employees and board of directors
  • Proven ability to create strategic plans that are data driven and credible by immersing oneself in the environment of focus (market, customers, suppliers, manufacturing location, etc.)
