Act as primary buyer for all MRO items for the Jacksonville location. Work to support the supply chain needs of the product category. Manage product purchase plans, purchasing, inventory replenishment and vendor-managed inventory programs. Participate in raw materials and finished goods negotiations. Ensure consistent inventory flow to minimize stock outs and meet or exceed inventory turns.


Material Planning

  • Understand MRP principles
  • Interpret reports to determine purchase needs
  • Issue PO's in compliance with company standards and procedures
  • Manage vendor returns process and collaborates with supplier quality
  • Understands basic SC concepts (ex. MOQ, QOH, QOD, QOO, Material Variances)
  • Manage/track expedites
  • Effective freight selection
  • Purchase of raw materials via MRP
  • Manage PPV and opportunities for cost-reduction
  • Coordinate material flow with production requirements
  • Ensure raw materials conform to purchase order specifications
  • Support New Product Development, from sourcing and choosing the right vendor at the right price to the procurement and implementation of custom tooling on any product development project
  • Initiate and lead various supplier programs such as, supplier reduction, quality improvements, cycle time reduction, JIT delivery and cost reduction, with an emphasis on building long term relationships
  • Ability to assess and implement inventory strategies
  • Ensure ECNs are implemented accordingly
  • Communicate any deviation for requested deliveries with internal customers
  • Ensure proper disposition of SLOB
  • Create continuous improvement plans
  • Act as the intermediary in vendor quality and performance issues
  • Recognize demand patterns, market trends


Vendor Management

  • Negotiate with suppliers to meet cost & delivery requirements
  • Work with the Commodity Manager to communicate expectations and deliverables with the supply base

  • Follow The Safariland Group policies and procedures (SOP’s)

Additional duties as requested


  • Two plus (2+) years procurement experience in the commercial product industry
  • Associate's Degree
  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Experience and relevant certifications will be considered in lieu of education
  • APICS certification preferred

  • Ability to adapt and work well in a continuously changing and dynamic environment
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation and teamwork skills
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to establish priorities
  • Strong computer and data analysis skills an asset
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Working knowledge of ISO9001, basic quality standards, NAFTA and customs regulations
  • Basic understanding of INCOTERMs
  • Strong knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint and Outlook
