Overview

Oversees all key garment engineering operational improvement and optimization initiatives for the Mustang product line in Jacksonville, Florida. Will design and execute strategies and plans to impact performance targets, as well as develop a world class continuous improvement engineering team that drives efficiencies and cost reduction.

 

Responsibilities

  • Work with the Focus Factory Manager and Supply Chain to achieve optimal level of efficiency, delivery and quality standards
  • Fully capable of using and implementing Time Study Systems for the garment industry using either GSD or ETC standardized work analysis methods
  • Participates in cost reduction initiatives for Mustang manufacturing
  • Engages in cost analysis down to the operational level
  • Directs all phases of programs and engineering tasks to completion
  • Support design for manufacturing initiatives
  • Supports ISO endeavors
  • Partners with Accounting to develop standard metrics and targets from the Focus Factory Managers to the production line staffs to achieve performance targets
  • Lead best practices effort and standardization across Safariland
  • Completes end-to-end diagnostic on the current manufacturing state, recommends improvement strategies and supports implementation of those strategies
  • Work collaboratively with location staffs to drive lean and optimization effort and to foster a culture of continuous improvement
  • Leverage Lean Six Sigma and Design of Experiments (DOE) to manage process and quality improvement activities
  • Builds and develops a successful continuous improvement engineering organization that can significantly increase profitability
  • Researchers, determines ROI, recommends and implements automation processes/equipment within the manufacturing facilities
  • Provides leadership to the to the manufacturing engineering group; hires, trains, develops and appraises team members
  • Assist with capital planning strategies
  • Directs the work of the employees assigned the program/project in all areas
  • May supervise at least one (1) to two (2) direct reports

 

Qualifications

 

Required Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, focus in Garment Engineering
  • Combination of years of experience and educational requirements may be acceptable
  • Time Study Systems Certification preferred (ex. GSD, ETC)

Required Experience

  • Ten plus (10+) years of previous experience in garment engineering
  • Experience in a process-orientated production environment and demonstrated record in manufacturing improvement techniques preferred
  • Experience in Lean manufacturing

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Significant experience in Lean manufacturing principals
  • Experience in creating cost analysis
  • Experience in working with cross-functional teams
  • Strong interpersonal skills and technical ability to interface with other functional areas such as marketing, sales and customer service
  • Quick learner with excellent business acumen
  • Self-starter who works well with people at all levels
  • Ability to motivate and provide excellent leadership to others
  • Strong manufacturing, engineering base that will be needed to understand and drive the organization towards optimal manufacturing capability
