We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Molding Technician to join our team.

 

The injection molding technician's duties include setting up molds and troubleshooting existing molds, which often requires specialized knowledge of specific tools and equipment.The tech has knowledge of the maintenance of molds outside of the molding machine and the placement and loading of molds into the molding machine. This requires the ability to evaluate the type of and extent of repairs to the molds and knowledge of how to handle the molds safely and efficiently as well as any tools and cleaning fluids associated with the maintenance and repairs of these molds.

Responsibilities

  • Install and set up injection molds for production. 
  • Startup injection molding machines in a fast paced custom injection molding facility in a safe and efficient manner.
  • Troubleshoot and adjust injection molding machine parameters to maintain quality and maximum product output.
  • Work alongside a small team of associates in execution of daily production tasks, work scheduling, training, maintenance, continuous improvement and support the implementation of ISO quality system.
  • Perform problem-solving of molding quality defects and correct them.
  • Diagnose, isolate malfunctions and perform simple repairs to molds and small tooling associated with those molds.
  • Fit and assemble standard parts into assemblies or mechanisms, using hand tools.
  • Ensure cleanliness and maintain safe work environment within molding department.
  • Respond to problems by performing corrective technical or mechanical solutions.
  • Maintain positive employee relations and adhere to company policies, safety standards, and good housekeeping practices.
  • Follows all Lock Out/Tag Out procedures and work instructions.
  • Assist in various maintenance functions, including but not limited to, preventive, corrective and emergency maintenance on all injection molding equipment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must have at least 3-5 years injection molding set up and processing experience.
  • Ability to set-up machines, read blueprints, and measure product with calipers and other associated tooling.
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable in a changing business environment.
  • Strong root cause analysis/problem solving abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret manuals and drawings of machine tools and equipment is required.

  • Good mechanical skills.

  • Must maintain forklift, overhead crane operator and scissor lift license if applicable.

  • Experience with ISO quality systems is a plus.
  • Experience with Engineering resins such as Nylon, Acetal and Polycarbonate is a plus.
  • Familiarity of Van Dorn Demag and Sumitomo molding machines is a plus.
