Overview

Med-Eng is currently looking for an Operations NPI Specialist who is responsible for coordinating the activities of the process and introduction functions between product development, engineering and manufacturing as it applies to the smooth transition of all activities being introduced into the manufacturing plants.

 

The NPI Operations Specialist is responsible for the Project Management of Operations activities on New Product Introductions, Engineering change requests, new features on existing products and any other introductions activities that impact the manufacturing plants.

 

Working in collaboration (and for manufacturability) with the product development team, as they design the product concepts and the Engineering teams, as they create the prototypes and processes as well as the operations team (planning, procurement and manufacturing engineers), as they work to prepare the plants for steady state production. This includes all mechanical, electronic and soft goods.

 

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the successful transfer of all production activities from Engineering to Manufacturing.
  • Support the Concurrent Engineering Model ensuring timely input through effective collaboration / leadership with product development and engineering.
  • Coordination of all manufacturing Plans.
  • Represent Operations within all product development and engineering projects, engaging Operations (procurement and manufacturing engineers) and Quality teams as required.
  • Resolve technical problems which effect quality, manufacturability, delivery and costs during the development and engineering phases
  • Effectively hand off all production activities in preparation for Low rate initial production (LRIP) of all products / features to manufacturing engineers / plants.
  • Support the LRIP process.
  • Participates in Monthly Business Reviews with Operations Management Team
  • Coordinate (with Operations team) the specification, sourcing, planning and installation of new test equipment to manufacturing.
  • Support RMA process, reviewing data for trends and supporting corrective actions into manufacturing.
  • Continuous Improvement of NPI Processes, Procedures, Tools and Staff.

 

Qualifications

  • Requires at least a diploma in Electronics Technology / Engineering or related discipline.
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a Concurrent Engineering environment.
  • Experience in Phase Gate Project management.
  • Must be knowledgeable about Configuration Management requirements.
  • Knowledge of ITAR and Controlled goods requirements.
  • Ability to interpret drawings and production documents.
  • Ability to independently manage, organize and complete work activities in order to meet or exceed established deadlines and priorities.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both oral and written English.
  • Ability to lead and coordinate cross-functional team activities.
  • Competence in writing skills for preparing clear and concise written reports.
  • Ability to communicate/interact effectively, cooperatively, tactfully with internal customers and project stakeholders.
  • Eligible for security clearance.
  • Flexibility for travel.
  • Skilled in analyzing and solving production process / tools deficiencies early in the development / engineering phase.
  • Sound knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements.
