Overview

JOB SUMMARY

 

Assist in all aspects of the Quality Management System and with maintenance of the system by conducting regular internal audits. This includes audit planning, execution, follow-up and re-audit if necessary.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct process audits and daily inspections, including required product sampling
  • Develop work standards for new manufacturing processes
  • Establish incoming inspection criteria and critical dimensions
  • Evaluate suppliers ability to produce
  •        Use engineering drawings to identify required inspection points and qualify products (incoming raw materials and finished goods)
  • Identify and work with internal and external customers to drive conforming input/outputs through value streams
  • Work to resolve nonconforming product issues within the Material Review Board process
  • Establish in-process quality assurance checks, and train production associates to be aware of methods to ensure 100% compliance
  • Encourage and facilitate use of “Good Catch” program
  • Perform product inspections and complete all necessary reports, including: Certificate of Compliance, material discrepancy, and part inspection forms etc
  • Assist in document control
  • Train new auditors
  • Provides internal communication regarding compliance issues and changes to the ISO standard
  • Responsible for executing QMS audits to the current ISO 9001 Standard
  • Responsible for conducting Internal Audits including process audits
    • Plan/conduct audit/document findings and prepare audit report
    • Communicate results to department(s) audited and to QA Management
    • Work with the audited department(s) to assist in resolution of compliance issues
    • Perform necessary follow-up including communicating with audited department(s) management on status of corrective action implementation and verification
    • Communicate to management issues that require attention
    • Maintain files generated from each audit
  • May be asked to assist in on-site audit of supplier’s quality management system
  • Other duties as assigned

SUPERVISORY & OPERATIONAL AUTHORITY

  • No supervisory
  • Notify Quality Assurance Supervisor of non-conforming products and processes
  • Notify Quality Assurance Supervisor of unsafe equipment or work practices

 

Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as ballistic construction details, work instructions, AQL manuals, SOC charts and procedure manuals
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of the organization.

  • Proficient in use of statistical techniques (SPC, control limits vs. specification limits, Cp Cpk, control chart interpretation)
  • Able to interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, Certificates of Conformance/Analysis
  • Proficient in the use and handling of gages and capable of working in metric and English units of measure
  • Capable of assisting internal audit team and conducting directed audits of processes
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office Suite and able to generate effective reports and communications, i.e., emails
  • Ability to review corrective actions for effectiveness and verify same
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
  • Energetic and willing to work in a team environment
  • Able to design and implement process improvements
  • Ability to use basic Microsoft applications

EXPERIENCE

  • Three (3) to five (5) years experience in Quality Inspection and Auditing within a manufacturing environment and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Auditing certificates from recognized training facilities or quality organizations are preferred

EDUCATION

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • AA Degree preferred
