Overview

The Compliance Manager will serve as a key liaison for the Corporate Office on accounting and cost allowability issues. The position assists the Controller in maintaining the Delegation of Authority and Internal Controls, provides support for government audits and runs the Company’s FCPA audit and test plan. The Manager tracks laws and regulations that might affect the organization's financial policies while remaining in Financial Control Framework and will help lead the Company as it prepares for Sarbanes Oxely Compliance.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Identify key controls, control weaknesses and areas for improvement
  • Drive and support necessary process changes within the department to comply with reporting requirements in a timely manner
  • Manage and execute the Financial control framework, including on-site reviews
  • Work with process owner managers to design efficient and effective controls documentation standards, ensuring that controls have been documented in a consistent manner
  • Ensure controls and documents are up-to-date and maintained/stored in one location
  • Work closely with business process owners to develop new processes and procedures where needed to correct key control deficiencies; help implement policies and procedures
  • Perform walk-through/testing of document with process owners to identify potential issues
  • Monitor remediation of deficiencies
  • Provide status updates to Finance management team
  • Serve as primary liaison between finance, business process owners and external/internal audit to coordinate testing and compliance activities
  • Support the development of policies that facilitate compliance across the organization including recommendations for improvement.
  • Work closely with department to ensure processes are in accordance to standards
  • Create and manage the implementation of financial accounting and internal control policies to satisfy the critical needs of the department
  • Document and own group accounting policies and internal controls
  • Make recommendations on the systems and procedures being reviewed, report on the findings and recommendations and monitor management’s response and implementation
  • To review and report on the accuracy, timeliness and relevance of the financial and other information that is provided for management
  • Compile evidence for the group’s semi-annual compliance sign-off on the Operational Assurance Statement
  • Other projects as requested by the Accounting Director

 

Qualifications

 

Required Experience

  • Four years minimum public accounting and auditing experience
  • Sound knowledge of internal financial/operational controls and US GAAP required
  • Strong technical/business writing, communication and presentation skills required
  • Background in financial analysis, preferably with a large manufacturing company
  • Operation financial experience a plus
  • Ability to work cross functionally across multiple entities and departments
  • CPA Preferred

Required Education

  • Bachelors in Accounting
  • Masters of Accounting or MBA preferred

  • Excellent communication, writing and interpersonal skills focusing on a team-oriented environment and the ability to interact with senior management
  • Strong analytical skills with the insight to provide innovative solutions
  • Strong understanding of both financial and operational processes
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
  • Demonstrated ability to make good decisions, solve problems and drive for results
  • Understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley, GAAP and COSO framework
  • Solid understanding of financial processes and internal controls
