We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced CNC Programmer to join our team.


This position requires a high level of understanding of the sinker type EDM Process and working knowledge of Electrode Programming including overburn compensation.


Essential Job Functions:

  • Creates instructions for machinists.
  • Reviews 3D CAD designs.
  • Makes calculations for programming including where materials should be cut.
  • Communicates with toolmakers who will use the programs.
  • Checks completed programs by running simulations or tests.
  • Determines sequence of operations in a program.
  • Chooses cutting tools that will be needed.
  • Analyzes job order and performs necessary calculations.
  • Writes programs and modifies existing ones for increased efficiency.
  • Analyzes and selects speeds and cutting tools for programs.
  • Makes improvements to set up times for a task and contouring of complex shapes.
  • Evaluates all completed designs to validate their functions.
  • Monitors all programs to make sure they follow instructions and safely and successfully complete the task.
  • Complies with all safety rules and regulations.


Required Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience programming components using 2 and 3 axis techniques utilizing high speed vertical machining.
  • Must have 3 axis CAM experience.
  • Knowledge of Solidworks and Camworks 2017 or related CAM software preferred.
  • Experience working with plastic injected molds. Especially the programming of electrodes to be EDM'ed in sinker type machines.
  • Experience setting up and operating CNC machine tools as a back-up operator is preferred.


Required Education:

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent work experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Proficient in most basic computer file \ folder operations, email, & SolidWorks.
  • Must have excellent reading comprehension skills.
  • Good math skills, especially trigonometry.
  • Good active listening skills.
  • Must have good problem solving skills.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be mechanically inclined.
  • Knowledge of metal shop work.
  • Must be highly detail oriented.
  • Work independently as well as in a team atmosphere with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of safety measures pertinent to each job assignment.
